Film 1. The newborn alone
Watch me photograph from above, settle the newborn on the beanbag in the back pose, wrap with one simple wrap and capture the tiniest details.
Online course · Natural newborn
Three real newborn sessions, filmed backstage. Watch how I work with the newborn, with mum and dad, and with a big sister, in one soft and calm flow. Plus my complete English guide, Natural Newborn: The Essentials.

What you can't see online
You have saved hundreds of them. Soft, white, light. A newborn curled up with a teddy. A mother with her eyes closed, her cheek against that tiny head. You know exactly the feeling you want to create.
But an image only shows you the end. It doesn't show you how the photographer's hands move. How long she waits. What she says to a tired mum. When she stops, and simply lets the newborn be.
That is what you will see here. Not the result. The way there.
Why natural feels harder than it looks
White, light, one outfit, one teddy. Natural newborn looks like the easiest style there is. And yet your sessions feel rushed. You change outfits to keep it interesting. You wait an hour for that deep sleep. The parents sit on the sofa, tense, watching every move. And you go home with images that are lovely, but not quite that.
It isn't your camera. It isn't your light. The gap is in the way you work: the pace, the order, the calm you bring into the room. And that is something you learn by watching, not by reading another list of poses.
After the course
Your sessions become calmer and shorter. A natural session takes one to two hours, and often less. You will see how one outfit, one wrap and one teddy are enough for a full gallery.
An awake newborn no longer stresses you. You will see how I simply turn the session around: eyes open first, then the parents, then sleep against mum.
Parents relax, because you relax. You will hear how I talk to them, what I ask, and when I leave the room so they can just be together.
Your images get softer and more connected. Hands, details, a father's cheek, a sister's little hand. The images parents keep looking at for years.

Is this for you?
This course is for you if you photograph newborns, or want to, and you feel drawn to that soft, pure style. Maybe you are just starting out and want to begin the calm way. Maybe you have worked in classic posed for years and you are ready to let go of the props, the colours and the six set ups. You want sessions that feel like home, for the parents and for yourself.
This course is not for you if you are looking for complicated poses, props or composites. In my natural sessions the newborn lies on their back, and that is it. Everything else belongs to another style.
Inside the course

Watch me photograph from above, settle the newborn on the beanbag in the back pose, wrap with one simple wrap and capture the tiniest details.

See how I build up the parent images, beside or in front of the window, and the small prompts that turn poses into moments.

See how I keep it safe, short and playful, with mum's hands always close by.
Seventy two pages, beautifully designed, to read alongside the films. Everything about the newborn: safety, warmth, sleep, soothing and hiccups. Then my natural method in seven steps, the one wrap you need, the flow of a session, working with parents, macro, and the checklists I use before every session.

A little extra
You have seen the session. Now see what happens after. I take one image from the films and edit it from RAW to final, in just a few minutes. So you see how that soft, light look comes together, and how little it takes when the light in your session is right.

Meet your teacher
I started photographing newborns in 2012, in people's homes, on the changing table, in their own clothes. Later I fell in love with classic posed photography, with props and colours and as many set ups as possible. I did that for years.
And then I started to miss something. The connection. The purity. There was too much around the newborn. So I went back to basics. Today I photograph in the smallest studio I have ever had, a little conservatory at home, and I make the most beautiful images of my life there.
Since 2014 I have coached photographers. I founded Ollieschool, a Dutch school for newborn photography, and I have helped more than 1,500 photographers grow in the craft. In this course I open my studio door for you. Come in, sit down, and watch.
